1966

1966- I began with the piano at my Grandparents home at about age 4, I was really enthralled with music and I got an organ for my Birthday at age 6 or 7, I played basic chords, triads, and got a feel for putting them together to form a song. My good friend’s sister was playing Jonie Mitchell songs on her guitar and it gave me a crazy drive  to own a guitar.  My  guitar lessons started at age 11 and quickly led to a change of teachers. I went from an older man teaching out of a lesson book to a National Rock and Roll Player from my hometown- Robbie Georgia, Robbie taught me Takin Care of Business, with lead solo, Pinball Wizard with cool intro, Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo, and others. This was my ignition. Although Robbie had his own Band- Angels with Dirty Faces, he also played with Melanie, of Woodstock Fame as well as Rick Derringer, whom oddly, I also later performed with. I was asked to pickup Robbie’s phone one day when he was busy and his girlfriend, Linda Blair (of the Exorcist) was calling.
